Britain is in the grip of an obesity epidemic and some of us are much bigger than the abilities of normal ambulances can cope with. Cue the new emergency service: the bariatric ambulance.

Reinforced with on board winches and supersized wheelchairs, the ambulance and its crew can shift up to 70 stone of bed-ridden body. This is a unique insight into Britain's other 'Big Society' and the people whose job it is to help them.
