Professor Alice Roberts, Professor Danielle George and Dr Onyeka Nubia tell the story of Britain's century long obsession with invasion from abroad through the physical reminders that remain to this day. 

From her base at Walmer Castle (built by Henry VIII to protect against invasion from Catholic Europe), Alice will be joined by expert historians who'll set the scene for some of the most turbulent periods in British history, whilst helping Alice get under the skin of those with designs on our island nation and those charged with its protection.  Alice will also be getting her hands on some truly extraordinary archaeological finds relating to the defence of the realm. Meanwhile Onyeka and Danielle travel the length and breadth of the country seeking out the physical reminders that tell of a thousand years of threat from overseas.
