Susan Calman's Summer by the Sea

Susan Calman is all set for a fun packed summer!  She’s packed her bucket and spade and bag loads of enthusiasm and wants all of us to join her as she celebrates everything there is to love about the seaside. Each episode, Susan visits one of Britain’s best-loved holiday destinations and sample all the resort has to offer. 

It’s a jam-packed summer for Susan as she throws herself into beach life in Bournemouth, takes to the water in all kinds of boats in sunny Southwold, gets her skates on in Margate, soars to new heights on the Ferris Wheel in Clacton-on-Sea and drops in on the world’s biggest chippie in Cleethorpes.

At each destination, she is joined by a celebrity friend who shares with her what they love about the seaside.  It’s thrills and spills on the ghost train with Sally Lindsay while she goes head to head with Nina Wadia on the bumper boats.  Les Dennis chats about his childhood holidays, she tries some games on the beach with Laurence Llewellyn Bowen and she can’t resist joining Britain’s only beach choir with Gareth Malone.  From boat races to bird watching, sea glass hunting to horse riding and even Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga, there’s so much for them all to discover at the seaside.

Susan takes in as much of the resort as she can fit in, whether on the pier, the promenade or the beach. It’s fast paced and full of joy, a seaside treat from start to finish.  And each week we’re all invited along with her to join in the fun of her Summer by the Sea.
